At Electric Coin Company, we're deploying next-generation technology at the intersection of privacy and financial systems. We have made great progress in building an engineering team from computer science and cryptography backgrounds. As we continue our commitment to the development of Zcash, we need to further our commitment to growing our engineering and product teams while enabling them to do their best work.
As our Director of Engineering, your first task will be to familiarize yourself with the engineering team and our core technology so you can help the team grow and thrive. The engineering team’s goal is to prioritize features that drive the most value, and the engineering leader will be responsible for validating ideas with other managers and ECC leadership. We’re looking for a collaborative, humble, self-starter who can come onboard and make an immediate impact.
Specifically, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our core team (composed of software engineers & cryptographers) as well as our wallet team (mobile devs & ux designer). Being proficient in all of these technologies is not necessary, but a career history in an engineering org is highly desirable.
We have few concrete requirements. We're flexible, but we're looking for someone with experience managing engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-quality, distributed environment. The ideal candidate also has experience working with customer-focused product organizations. We are looking for someone who is extremely organized and has strong program management skills in an Agile environment; you never drop a ball. The ideal person for this position has experience growing teams to meet specific strategic needs, and has strong skill managing both upward and downward. Our engineers come from a variety of backgrounds so we need someone who has a very high emotional intelligence, is comfortable with extreme transparency while protecting privacy, and has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
A successful candidate for this position has strong process-building skills and has a proven record balancing on-time product delivery while also able to quickly pivot when priorities are changed. The individual in this role will be responsible for acting as a bridge between product, engineers, and leadership, and will be an advocate for engineering while managing expectations between those teams and leadership. The ideal candidate has proven experience managing distributed teams and is an effective communicator across multiple communication platforms.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above starting rate represents ECC’s reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck and includes additional attractive incentive benefits such as a retention grant of ZEC coins.
