Head of Engineering

The Role

We are looking for a seasoned organization leader with a deep interest and passion for blockchain who has a history of building successful products, organizations, and high performing engineering teams. As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and growing a full-stack engineering team and guiding the development of features and infrastructure, from writing smart contracts to implementing client-facing interfaces for native cross-chain applications.

Nomad is building trust-minimized cross-chain infrastructure and tools to meet the needs of today's diverse and rapidly growing ecosystems. You will work alongside senior leaders across all disciplines to drive the vision, design, and implementation of Nomad's protocol and related tools and applications.

Responsibilities

You will:

• Work alongside Marketing, Product, and Business counterparts to build and execute on a roadmap and strategy that establishes Nomad as critical infrastructure for cross-chain communication
• Establish and lead structure and process changes to ensure teams scale effectively with minimal overhead
• Build an outstanding engineering organization by hiring and scaling up exceptional people and and fostering a culture of ownership, inclusiveness, accountability, and urgency
• Collaborate with engineering managers, product managers, and stakeholders to align on goals and metrics and execution milestones
• Champion technical excellence and ensure quality as the number of products grow

Technical Leadership

• Identify gaps in the organization and build an engineering team to ensure full coverage
• Provide management, coaching, and mentorship across the technical team
• Develop and own strategic plans and set timelines for evaluation, development, and deployment of all technical aspects of Nomad's protocol, tools, and applications

This role will:

• Aligning engineering activities and projects with company goals and objectives
• Promote and implement organizational patterns and practices
• Responsible for feature deployment, stability of the business's core pla
• Manage engineering staffing, resources, and mentoring
• Leads the engineering team in the delivery of platform functionality
• Provide technical guidance and direction
• Work closely with senior engineering teams in the management and development of strategic planning

Requirements

• Significant hands-on technical development experience
• Proven track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring diverse technical teams particularly in the crypto industry. Strong plus for managing remote teams
• Solid experience working on/deploying to Ethereum or other EVM-compatible blockchains
• Entrepreneurial spirit and autonomous working-style
• Experience building consumer and developer facing products and services as well as the deployment of APIs
• Experienced in agile development practices and architectural knowledge of web-based and backend technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Inspires confidence in others
• Strong decision making skills
• In-depth blockchain/cryptocurrency industry experience, especially the current state of L1s, L2s, and roll-ups. Experience in tokenomics, decentralized product development, and cross-chain bridging would be a strong plus.

We're looking for someone that will enjoy helping build a company and protocol from the very early days, and doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves. The ideal candidate will be able to take high level goals, structure them into a roadmap of initiatives and then either execute or scale out a team to execute tactically.

Compensation is top of market for similar roles in the industry, and includes both salary as well as ownership in the company / protocol.
