DC-Based Private Equity Firm
Senior Accountant ($120K-$130K + Bonus)

Our client is One of the Top Five, Private Equity firms in the DMV area with a focus on middle market investment opportunities in growth industries. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their pedigreed Accounting team of 14, who will be responsible for a wide range of accounting and reporting duties related to the management company and various funds.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to see and understand the bigger picture. Compensation will be $120K-$130K plus bonus and the team is currently coming into the office 4-5 days a week.
Fund Accounting and Reporting:
- Assist with management and oversight of 3rd party fund administrator relationship
- Review quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, allocations and other investor reporting obligations
- Ensure cash and general ledgers are reconciled timely and accurately
- Review and ensure calculations of capital calls, distributions, management fees and carried interest are in accordance with fund agreements
- VP of Finance and CFO with quarterly valuation process
- Understand and analyze fund limited partnership / operating agreements
- Assist with management of the annual audit process and coordinate successful planning and execution with fund administrators
- Prepare ad hoc reporting to support internal decision making
- Assist with preparation of fundraising materials and performance information
- Liaise with investors on all finance/accounting related inquiries in a timely manner
- Assist with investor due diligence requests
- Prepare periodic accounting documentation memos
Management Company Accounting and Reporting:
- Review monthly financial statements and supporting detail prepared by 3rd party administrator
- Assist with company budgeting process and company financial model
- Ensure expenses are appropriately allocated to entities in accordance with fund agreements
- Assist with bill approvals, vendor payments and expense reimbursement process
- Calculate expenses in connection with various 3rd party contractual agreements
Requirements:
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Licensed CPA preferred
- 3-6 years of directly relevant experience, preferably with a mix of Big 4/top tier public accounting and private equity/venture capital firms
- Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP, investment company accounting (ASC 946), and fair value measurements (ASC 820)
- Experience with closed-end fund legal structures, their governing documents, and frameworks
- Expert Microsoft Excel skills required
- Ability to multitask, problem solve and take complete ownership of work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Familiarity with digital assets, blockchain technologies, and cryptocurrency is a big plus
