As Vice President of Software Engineering and Controls, you will lead the software and control engineering teams with end-to-end ownership of FTIโ€™s products and solutions controls design, advanced technology controls system development and platform architecture of our Cloud, Edge, and product control and management software solutions. With this critical responsibility, you must be comfortable working in new and expanding markets. FTI currently serves these expanding markets with products and solutions: EV charging solutions, data centers, crypto mining solutions, renewable energy products, distributed energy products, and microgrids. This position will be responsible for new solutions entering new markets. Critical understanding of market trends in this technological space is important as this position will have a lot of authority to drive the future of FTIโ€™s success in this space.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Minimum of a bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required. Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.

Experience: At least 15 years of experience in software or controls engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership position. Experience managing large teams and distributed development projects. Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps.

Additionally, The Following Is Preferred

  • Advanced training and knowledge in control theory, AI, ML, blockchain, IoT solutions (with secure OTA approaches) and related industry trends.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration.
  • Experience delivering solutions for IoT connected products and solutions with complex or sophisticated operational characteristics that include integration of product controls, edge and cloud-based capabilities.
  • Experience delivering software as part of a complete IoT solution.

Travel: 10-20%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads technology planning activities to align Cloud, Edge, and product software engineering and control priorities to business goals.
  • Collaborates with product engineering, IT, service and service support systems, and business leadership to deploy industry leading products and energy solutions with advanced control strategies, IoT solutions, cloud based monitoring and control, OTA, and life cycle SaaS options.
  • Leads the software and control systems product introduction development effort and collaborates with key internal and external partners.
  • Manages to budget, deliver on-time software products, systems, and solutions that align with the company strategy.
  • Develops and executes a technology strategic plan. Key focus on blockchain strategies for system control, power distribution, and transaction management.
  • Supports and informs Executive management on best practices using, deploying, and controlling cryptocurrency technology.
  • Collaborates with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a technology plan that supports organizational needs.
  • Develops needed systems engineering tools for software and controls development within the organization.
  • Deploys various product, software, controls, and process strategies to enhance speed to market of software and control solutions.
  • Integrates industry leading solutions using standard toolsets and best practices.
  • Partners with Product Management and General Managers to define aggressive, but achievable product roadmaps, with commitment to delivery.
  • Effectively manages department budget to support attainment of software portfolio P&L objectives.
  • Anticipates and reacts to major technology changes to ensure the maintenance of company leadership in the competitive landscape.
  • Maintains a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on being a best-in-class product delivery organization.
  • Maintains a culture of delivering on-time, on-scope, on-budget, and on-quality.
  • Fully accountable for software quality and on-time delivery.
  • Leads the technology team in enforcing standard practices that enhance maintainability and reliability of software across the product line.
  • Challenges and inspires employees to achieve and deliver business results.
  • Enables a culture of innovation to deliver market differentiating solutions.
  • Mentors managers in the full spectrum of strategy, planning, SDLC, people management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Scales and lead a team of highly skilled employees by directing department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, design for supportability, and develop testing designs and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
